The small French town of St CHINIAN has been voted the 5th most desirable destination for retirement – in the World !

Rated above  Budapest,  Lisbon, Kular Lumpa and just below Abruzzo in Italy, we feel that we should expose the hidden secrets of St Chinian.

Situated in the heart of the Languedoc region of Southern France, 40 kms inland from the Mediterranean and surrounded by vineyards, woods and Les Montagnes Noir (Black mountains).

No doubt, many wine buffs will have sampled the famous red wines from the stony appellation of IPG St Chinian.

Rightly rated as some of the finest red wines in the Languedoc, but not all retirees are influenced by the wine of a region to decide to retire there!

St Chinian is well hidden, but easy to find: Airports at Beziers, Montpellier and Carcassonne.

The climate;  Yes,  St Chinian enjoys a Mediterranean climate of sunshine without the strong winds which blow over Narbonne or Perpignan. The Hills are the source of wonderful pure mountain water, and St Chinian was famous in the 18th century for its Source de Sainte Terese.

The locals of St Chinian are mostly from agricultural families and the Mayor, Bruno Enjelbert is dynamic and enthusiastic about the future of his town.

Thursday & Sunday sees the main square transform into a market of local produce and a meeting place for all.
